How to Choose the Right Forklift

In order to choose the right forklift for your specific job, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. How high do you need to lift it?

  2. Will the forklift be used indoors or outdoors?

  3. What type of surface will the forklift operate on?

  4. Are there height, width or turning-radius restrictions?

  5. How heavy of a load do you need to lift?

If you still do not know, ask one of our professional rental coordinators and they’ll point you in the right direction.

Forklift Rentals FAQs

Where can I rent a forklift near me in South Florida?

Durante Equipment rents forklifts throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties from our Hollywood and Lake Worth, Florida locations. We serve Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Boca Raton, Lake Worth, West Palm Beach, and many surrounding communities, with direct-to-job-site delivery or local pickup options.

Does Durante Equipment provide a forklift operator with the rental?

No. Durante Equipment rents the equipment but does not provide operators for hire.

What size forklift do I need?

The correct forklift size depends on the weight you are trying to lift, required lift height, your operating surface, the available clearance, and whether the forklift will be used indoors or outdoors. Before renting, know approximately how much you need to lift, how high you need to lift it, and where the forklift will operate.

Do you deliver forklift rentals to my jobsite?

Yes. Durante Equipment provides forklift rental delivery throughout South Florida, including Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Our service area includes Miami, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Lake Worth, West Palm Beach, and surrounding communities.

What is the difference between an electric, propane, and diesel forklift?

Electric forklifts are battery-powered, rechargeable, and most commonly used for indoor material handling and applications where engine exhaust is undesirable. Propane/LPG forklifts offer convenient refueling and versatility for many material-handling applications. Diesel forklifts are generally used for heavier-duty outdoor and industrial applications. The best choice depends on your load, operating environment, surface, and required runtime.

What is the difference between a forklift and a telehandler?

A conventional forklift typically uses a vertical mast to lift loads and is commonly used in warehouses, loading areas, equipment yards, and other industrial facilities. A telehandler uses an extending boom that provides greater forward and vertical reach, is usually diesel-powered, and is commonly used outdoors on construction sites and rough terrain, as most come equipped with 4Ă—4 capabilities.

How much does it cost to rent a forklift in the South Florida area?

Forklift rental rates vary based on lift capacity, fuel type, and rental duration. Durante Equipment offers daily, weekly, and monthly forklift rentals throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Contact us for current pricing and availability. Daily rates start below $200.

What type of forklift should I rent for indoor use?

Electric forklifts are commonly used for warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and other indoor applications because they don't produce engine exhaust fumes. Durante Equipment offers electric forklifts, including options with non-marking tires for indoor floors. You can also choose an LPG (propane) powered forklift for indoor use as long as the enclosed area has proper ventilation.

What type of forklift should I rent for outdoor use?

For outdoor applications, the right forklift depends on the surface, load, and working conditions. LPG, dual-fuel and diesel forklifts with appropriate tires may be suitable for outdoor material handling. Tell us whether you'll be operating on concrete, asphalt, gravel, or another surface so we can help match the machine to the job.

Do you rent forklift attachments?

Durante Equipment offers an assortment of fork attachments depending on the forklift and application. We rent 42’ and 48” fork attachments, 72” fork extensions, 2” - 2.5” fork blocks, and lift and tow forklift attachments. *Attachments must be compatible with the forklift and can affect its rated capacity.

I have to unload a single item from a truck. Can I rent a forklift for a few hours?

We do not rent hourly. Durante Equipment offers daily, weekly, and monthly forklift rentals. Longer-term and multi-month rentals are also available.

Do you rent forklifts in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County?

Yes. Durante Equipment provides forklift rentals throughout Palm Beach County, including Lake Worth, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and surrounding communities. Our Lake Worth location at 3285 S. Military Trail serves customers throughout Palm Beach County.

Do you rent heavy-duty forklifts?

Yes. Durante Equipment offers heavy-duty diesel forklift rentals with capacities up to approximately 15,500 lbs. These machines can be used for heavy material handling, industrial facilities, lumber and building-material operations, equipment yards and loading or unloading applications.

What information do I need to rent the right forklift?

Tell us what you're lifting, the approximate load weight, how high it needs to be lifted, whether you'll operate indoors or outdoors, the ground or floor surface and any height or width restrictions. Providing your jobsite location and expected rental duration will also help our rental team recommend the right forklift and prepare an accurate quote.
